Fixing DIY Furniture As A Skill

What To Do

DIY furniture/ items usually come with a manual, the necessary tools and screws needed to assemble the item. Follow the step-by-step instructions stated in the manual. Assemble it accordingly. Patience is the key here as it can be quite frustrating at times. If you do not understand the instructions stated in the manual, search for tutorials on assembling the item you purchased, on the YouTube channel. You may also ask for assistance from a friend.

What Does It Do

Assembling DIY furniture is challenging and not as easy as it seems. Although it comes with a manual, some of the instructions may not be clear enough. It may be tough, especially if you have never done it before. Depending on what you purchase, the time needed to assemble the item may range from one hour to a few hours. If you need a break, continue the next day. You do not have to rush to set it up.

Give yourself a challenge and try assembling a DIY item you bought, no matter how big or small. It keeps you focused as you have to fully understand the instructions. It acts as a form of distraction from your troubled mind. It tests your patience too. However, the satisfaction and pride you will feel when the whole item is set up is indescribable.

How I Feel After Doing It

Previously, I was not the type to carry out physical activities of any kind. However, during the Covid pandemic, my mother and I stayed indoors most of the time. We decided to paint the interior of our house to keep occupied. After that, we started clearing out stuff we do not need. One activity leads to another. We noticed that some furniture and lightings were getting old and needed to be changed. That was when we bought DIY furniture/items and assembled them ourselves. I dare say that I am good at DIY projects now.

Every piece of furniture/item in the house is an indication of our effort, personal preference and style. We are now slowly turning our house into a simple and minimalist space to create a warm and cosy ambience.

As I look around the house, I cannot help but feel proud and happy. I feel I am useful, smart, strong and resilient. I am more confident in myself and understand that there is nothing I cannot do if I put my mind to it. Best of all, I have acquired another skill under my belt.

Do give it a try, Warriors!
