What To Do
When you feel stressed or when your mind feels as if it is messed up, do some colouring. Get a colouring book according to your liking and concentrate on making the pictures pretty.
What Does It Do
With every stroke of colour you apply to the picture, it will slowly transform into a beautiful piece of art. You will not only feel in control as you colour but you will also begin to feel calmer. You will find peace as you concentrate on the colouring. The stress from the annoyance caused by the voices will gradually lessen. You will be more composed and your heart feels lighter.
How I Feel After Doing It
My sister bought me a fashion-themed colouring book and I relied on it heavily in the early stages of my schizophrenia journey. Whenever I was stressed, I would take out the book and start colouring. Every single picture that I colour helps me to release the pent-up frustration in me. On the other hand, the pictures that I coloured slowly turn into beautiful pieces.
I feel more composed and light the more I concentrate on the colouring. It gives me a sense of freedom as I can allow my imagination to run wild and apply whatever colours my heart fancy. Looking back on the coloured pictures now gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment.
