Steps
When you are very stressed up and need a break, put on your sports shoes and sports attire. Pluck up your courage and step outdoors. Breathe in the fresh air. However, it may be difficult to do so if you have anxiety or paranoia issues and especially if you have schizophrenia. Have someone to accompany you when you go outdoors. This is to ensure your safety, just in case psychosis suddenly hits.
What Does It Do
By taking a breather, you’re not only giving yourself some space to unwind. You also exert your energy and work out your muscles which in turn energizes you. Not only do you get to relax but it is also good for your mind and body. It can help you to calm down and manage your thoughts too.
How I Feel After Doing It
I feel satisfied and proud of myself after taking a walk. Besides that, I follow my mother to buy groceries or exercise on the porch daily for at least 20 minutes to soak up some sunlight. It not only ignites my response towards my surroundings, it also makes my mind “fresh” for not being cooped up in the house the whole day. It makes me feel accomplished that I showed up and turned up for myself daily although it seems like an impossible feat initially. Consistency is the key.
