Drinking Tea To Ease The Stress
Time
Do it when you are feeling upset or stressed.
What To Do
Buy yourself some tea. My favourite tea flavour is peppermint tea. It has that minty taste which comforts me.
What Does It Do
Having tea for teatime not only helps to calm you down but it slows down your mind for at least a short period of time. If you buy your favourite tea, not only will you look forward for teatime daily but it helps your mind to remember that you are safe and sound. If you have another family member or a trusted friend, you can ask them to join you for tea. This makes you able to practise having conversations face-to-face. Helps with conversation engagement and attention span.
How I Feel After Doing It
Dunking the teabag into my tea cup of water again and again remembered me of the dark times where I was so desperate and in darkness that I dipped my head into a pail of water while holding my breath for a period of time while voices were laughing at me in the shower. I learn to understand that I could not escape from my condition and voices that I needed a breather from the sounds. However, a decade later, I am now drinking my favourite cup of tea while enjoying the peacefulness in my life that I occasionally experience.
Now, the minty flavour envelopes me with warmth that soothes my soul. I especially like to drink tea on a rainy day. I look forward to having teatime with my mother daily. Each sip makes me slow down and reflect on my life during that period of time. I feel much better after that, as I am able to go about my other daily activities for the whole day. Sometimes when I am in despair, the warm cup of tea gives me consolation despite the voices affecting my emotions and mood.
“Tea is like a hug in a cup – warm, comforting and full of love”
