Drawing or Doodling On A Piece of Paper

When

Whenever you feel irritated or stressed

Tools

A pen / pencil and a piece of paper

What To Do

Set a timer for 1 minute. Doodle or simply use your pen to scribble to your heart’s content. You may draw or doodle anything that comes to mind. Do not judge what you draw.

What Does It Do

By doing so, you will be able to release your pent-up anger and frustration as the pen glides across the piece of paper. Holding onto the pen and drawing what comes to mind gives a sense of being in control as the negative symptoms generally make us feel as if we are losing our minds. You will then feel relieved being brought back to the present moment.

How I Feel After Doing It

My anger or irritation subsides almost immediately. I used to have a lot of dark, angry doodlings in the past when the voices attacked. After doodling furiously as much as I could, I noticed that the level of my anger slowly subsided and I could get out of the complex emotions and feelings that I have been harbouring.

I like to release my anger through doodling or scribbling. I noticed that it helps me to better understand the thoughts that were rummaging in my brain. It was tough to see such angry drawings initially but through the years, I noticed that they gradually improved as I became more positive and happy.
